The following are reports from the girls softball teams as reported by the coaches:

Week of April 18 from James Hamell

The major softball Dodgers recently added three wins to their record in
two games with the Alameda Red Sox and one game with the Altamont
Dodgers.  The Dodgers had home runs from Kaley Smith, Libby Peters, and
Jordan Hix during the three games.  Kelsey Stevens pitched a
10-strikeout, 4-inning shutout against the Alameda team and Allyson
Hamill struck out 13 Altamont hitters in 5 innings and 8 Alameda hitters
in 3 innings.  The Dodgers have surrendered only 7 runs in 5 games this
season.  

Week of April 1 from James Hamell

  • The Major Dodgers won their first two games of the season, 11-1 over
    the Eastdale Braves and 10-0 over the Altamont Isotopes.

  • Kelsey Stevens struck out 15 Eastdale hitters over 6 innings and
    Allyson Hamill struck out 9 Altamont hitters in 4 innings.  Neither
    Dodger pitcher allowed a base hit.
  • Kaley Smith made 3 fine defensive putouts at first base, one on a
    line drive down the line and the others on pop ups in foul territory.
  • While playing catcher, she threw out a Altamont runner attempting to
    steal second base.
  • Bethany Zahn reached base in all five plate appearances.
  • Kelsey Stevens scored 4 runs in the two games and Allyson Hamill,
    Carmen McClelland, and Kelly Simons each scored 3 times.  

 Week of April 8 from Michael Pelock

Game #1

  • The minor Astros split their opening two games with a loss at home to the Eastdale Red Sox and a win on the road over the Altamont White Sox.

  • Jordan Pelock pitched a great game in the opener with 8 strike outs and 1 put out in 5 innings of work but the Astros fell a little short in a 10 - 5 loss.
  • Caitlin Atencio, Coley Norcross and Shawntianna Martinez all made fine stops at first base on hard hit ground balls for unassisted put outs.
  • Caitlin and Jordan also combined to throw out two runners attempting to steal home in the last inning.

Game #2

  • In the second game, the bats came alive for the Astros scoring 14 runs in 6 innings.  Shawntianna Martinez pitched an exceptional game striking out 15 batters in 6 innings and assisting in the other 3 outs.

  • She also contributed with a single, double, and home run at the plate.
  • The entire team contributed with fine plate performances and 9 of the eleven players crossed plate.
